Kaori Welas Asih Foundation Donates Wheelchair to Elderly Man in Ubud

GIANYAR – Demonstrating its strong social commitment, the Kaori Welas Asih Foundation handed over a wheelchair to 85-year-old Ketut Cegir, a senior resident of Jl. Jerogadung, Banjar Kutuh Kelod, Petulu Village, Ubud District, Gianyar. The donation was personally delivered by the foundation’s founder, Ni Kadek Winie Kaori, on Tuesday (July 30, 2024).

When the Kaori Welas Asih team arrived at Cegir’s home, he was lying on the terrace, accompanied by his children, grandchildren, and his elder sister, Made Monyot, a 91 year old former dancer.

Winie Kaori warmly greeted and spoke with Cegir. Though he struggled to respond, his joy and gratitude were clear especially upon learning that Kaori had come to present him with a wheelchair.

In a heartfelt moment, Kaori gently comforted both Cegir and Monyot. Despite being older, Monyot appeared healthier, while Cegir required daily assistance to move. With visible emotion, Cegir immediately tried out the new wheelchair, which will ease his daily activities that previously required constant support.

“In Banjar Kutuh Kelod, there is a pressing need for such assistance. For a long time, Pekak Cegir has struggled to move—he had to be carried even just to seek treatment or use the bathroom,” Kaori explained.

The Kaori Welas Asih Foundation is a non-profit organization founded on the values of compassion and care, with a mission to improve the quality of life, particularly in Bali and surrounding regions. “Our main goal is to ensure access to proper education for children in need,” said Kaori.

“We want to help them gain quality education so they can achieve a brighter future,” she added.

Beyond education, the foundation also focuses on supporting individuals with physical and mental challenges. “We want to provide them with the assistance and guidance they need to live more meaningful lives,” Kaori emphasized.

The foundation also works to raise awareness about spirituality and life balance within the community. “We believe that by nurturing spiritual consciousness and balance, society will become happier and more prosperous,” she explained.

Driven by the spirit of love, trust, and care, the Kaori Welas Asih Foundation continues to encourage collaboration in building a better society.

“Through cooperation, we hope to bring positive change and deliver tangible benefits to those in need,” Kaori concluded.
